Jonah 1:4:1וַֽיהוָ֗הvayahwehand the LORD
Jonah 1:4:2הֵטִ֤ילhetilhurled Jonah 1:4:3רֽוּחַ־גְּדוֹלָה֙ruakhgedolaa great wind Jonah 1:4:4אֶל־הַיָּ֔םelhayamto the sea Jonah 1:4:5וַיְהִ֥יvayehiand there was Jonah 1:4:6סַֽעַר־גָּד֖וֹלsaargadola great storm Jonah 1:4:7בַּיָּ֑םbayamin the sea Jonah 1:4:8וְהָ֣אֳנִיָּ֔הvehaoniyaand the ship Jonah 1:4:9חִשְּׁבָ֖הkhishshevathought or was about Jonah 1:4:10לְהִשָּׁבֵֽר׃lehishshaverto be broken apart
4. Formal Translation
But the LORD {Yahweh, Storm-Commanding King} hurled a great wind toward the sea, and a great storm came to be in the sea, so that the ship seemed about to break.
4. Dynamic Translation
The LORD {Yahweh, Pursuing Judge} threw a violent wind onto the sea; a fierce storm soon battered the sea, and the ship was close to breaking apart.
