Jonah 1:5:1וַיִּֽירְאֲוּvayireuand they feared

5. Formal Translation
The sailors were afraid, and each one cried out to his own god. They threw the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to make it lighter for them. Yet Jonah had gone down into the ship’s inner recesses, lay down, and was fast asleep.
5. Dynamic Translation
The sailors were terrified, and each one cried out to his god. They threw the cargo into the sea to take weight off the ship. Meanwhile, Jonah went down into the ship’s lowest area, lay down, and sank into sleep.
