2. Formal Translation
And he prayed to the LORD {Yahweh, Mercy-Giver} and said, “Please, LORD, is this not my word while I was still on my land? Therefore I went ahead to flee to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious God and compassionate, slow to anger, great in steadfast love, and relenting concerning the calamity.”
2. Dynamic Translation
He prayed to the LORD {Yahweh, Patient King} and said, “O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still in my own country? That is why I fled to Tarshish in the first place, because I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, rich in loyal love, and willing to relent from calamity.”
