8. Formal Translation And it happened, when the sun rose, that God {Elohim, Purposeful Appointer} appointed a scorching wind from the east, and the sun struck Jonah on the head so that he fainted. Then he asked for his life to die and said, “My death is better than my life.” |
8. Dynamic Translation When the sun came up, God {Elohim, Sovereign Director} sent an east wind that was scorching, and the sun beat down on Jonah’s head until he grew faint. He asked to die and said, “Dying is better for me than living.” |
