28. Formal Translation And Joshua captured Makkedah on that day, and he struck it and its king with the edge of the sword. He put them under the ban—all the lives that were in it—he left no survivors. And he did to the king of Makkedah just as he had done to the king of Jericho. |
28. Dynamic Translation That day Joshua took Makkedah, killing everyone there along with its king by the sword. He destroyed the whole population and left no survivors. He treated the king of Makkedah exactly as he had treated the king of Jericho. |
