The verse opens with the restrictive conjunction veakh {וְאַךְ | və-ʾaḵ} ‘but; however’ introducing a conditional clause headed by im-temeah {אִם־טְמֵאָה | ʾim-təmēʾāh} ‘if it is unclean.’
