13. Formal Translation And it shall be that when the soles of the feet of the priests carrying the ark of the LORD {Yahweh, Sovereign Ruler}—the Lord of all the earth—rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, the waters descending from upstream, and they will stand in one heap. |
13. Dynamic Translation As soon as the priests’ feet carrying the ark of the LORD {Yahweh, Supreme King}, the Master of all the earth, touch the Jordan River, its waters flowing from upstream will be stopped, and the water will stand in a single great mound. |
