24. Formal Translation And they answered Joshua and said, “Because it was told and was certainly reported to your servants that the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheikha, Covenant Keeper} commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land and to destroy all its inhabitants from before you, we were greatly afraid for our lives because of you, and we have done this thing.” |
24. Dynamic Translation They replied to Joshua, “Your servants were clearly informed about what the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheikha, Covenant Guardian} told His servant Moses—to give you the entire land and to wipe out all the people living there before you. We were terrified for our lives because of you, and that is why we did it.” |
