Exegesis

The participial construction wehaorev yoshev {וְהָאֹרֵב יֹשֵׁב | wə-hā-ʾō-rê-ḇ yō-šêv} ‘the ambush lay hidden’ uses yō-šêv to indicate an ongoing state, localized by bechader {בֶּחָדֶר | bə-ḥā-der} ‘in the room’.
