Judges 19:17:1וַיִּשָּׂ֣אvayisaand he lifted up
Judges 19:17:2עֵינָ֗יוenaivhis eyes Judges 19:17:3וַיַּ֛רְאvayareand he saw Judges 19:17:4אֶת־הָאִ֥ישׁethaish{direct object} the man Judges 19:17:5הָאֹרֵ֖חַhaoreakhthe traveler or guest Judges 19:17:6בִּרְחֹ֣בbirkhovin the open square Judges 19:17:7הָעִ֑ירhairof the city Judges 19:17:8וַיֹּ֨אמֶרvayomerand he said Judges 19:17:9הָאִ֧ישׁhaishthe man Judges 19:17:10הַזָּקֵ֛ןhazakenthe old Judges 19:17:11אָ֥נָהanawhere {to} Judges 19:17:12תֵלֵ֖ךְtelekhwill you go Judges 19:17:13וּמֵאַ֥יִןumeayinand from where Judges 19:17:14תָּבֽוֹא׃tavowill you come
17. Formal Translation
And he lifted his eyes and saw the traveler in the city square; and the old man said, “Where are you going, and from where do you come?”
17. Dynamic Translation
He looked up and saw the stranger in the city square. The old man asked, “Where are you headed, and where did you come from?”
