וַיִּפְנ֞וּ{va-yif-NU###vah-yihf-NOO###and they turned} לִפְנֵ֨י{lif-NEI###lihf-NEE###before} אִ֤ישׁ{ISH###EESH###a man of} יִשְׂרָאֵל֙{yis-ra-EL###yihs-rah-EEL###Israel} אֶל־דֶּ֣רֶךְ{el-DE-rekh###ehl-DEH-rehkh###to the way of} הַמִּדְבָּ֔ר{ha-mid-BAR###hah-mihd-BAAR###the wilderness} וְהַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה{ve-ha-mil-kha-MA###veh-hah-mihl-khah-MAA###and the battle} הִדְבִּיקָ֑תְהוּ{hid-bi-ka-TE-hu###hihd-bih-kaa-TEH-hoo###overtook him} וַאֲשֶׁר֙{va-a-SHER###vah-ah-SHEHR###and those who} מֵהֶ֣עָרִ֔ים{me-he-rim###mee-heh-REEM###from the cities} מַשְׁחִיתִ֥ים{mash-khi-TIM###mahsh-khih-TEEM###were destroying} אוֹת֖וֹ{o-TO###oh-TOH###him} בְּתוֹכֽוֹ׃{be-to-KHO###beh-toh-KHOH###in his midst}
