24. Formal Translation In order that the violence against the seventy sons of Jerub-Baal and their blood might come to rest upon Abimelech their brother—who killed them—and upon the lords of Shechem who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers. |
24. Dynamic Translation This happened so that the wrongdoing done to Jerub-Baal’s seventy sons and their spilled blood would be repaid to Abimelech, their brother, who killed them, and to the leaders of Shechem who supported him in murdering his brothers. |
