8. Formal Translation
The LORD {Yahweh, Sovereign Planner} intended to ruin Zion’s daughter’s wall. He stretched out the measuring line and did not pull back His hand from destroying; so He made rampart and wall lament, and together they languished.
8. Dynamic Translation
The LORD {Yahweh, Intentional Judge} chose to tear down the wall of Zion’s daughter. He extended a measuring line and did not restrain His hand from devastation; He made the rampart and the wall mourn, and both grew weak together.
