In τί γὰρ κακὸν ἐποίησεν οὗτος; {Τί γὰρ κακὸν ἐποίησεν οὗτος; | ti gar kakon epoiesen houtos} the particle gar {γάρ | gar} gives the question explanatory force, while the question itself challenges the charge as morally unfounded.
