Kai hemeis men {καὶ ἡμεῖς μὲν | kaí hē-meîs mén} ‘and we indeed’ opens with a men–de contrast anticipating houtos de {οὗτος δὲ | hoû-tos dé} ‘but this man’, setting the speakers against the innocent one.
