4. Formal Translation Suppose Edom says, “We have been devastated, but we will return and rebuild the ruins.” The LORD of hosts {Yahweh Tsevaot, Supreme Commander} declares, “Let them rebuild; I will tear it down. They will be called a territory of wickedness and a people with whom the LORD is angry forever.” |
4. Dynamic Translation Even if Edom declares, “We have been crushed yet we will come back and restore the ruins,” the LORD of hosts {Yahweh Tsevaot, Leader of Armies} replies, “They may rebuild, but I will overthrow them, and they will become a land of wickedness and a people always under the LORD’s anger.” |
