24. Formal Translation
When Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing and that an uproar was forming, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this man; you yourselves must see to it.”
24. Dynamic Translation
Seeing that he could not accomplish anything and that a disturbance was rising, Pilate washed his hands before everyone and said, “I am not responsible for this man’s blood; you must answer for it yourselves.”
