1. Formal Translation At that time the scroll of Moses was read aloud for all the people to hear, and they came upon the written command that no Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of God {ha-elohim, Covenant Legislator} forever. |
1. Dynamic Translation That day, as the book of Moses was publicly proclaimed to the crowd, they realized it said that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever be received into the community of God {ha-elohim, Sovereign Judge}. |
