2. Formal Translation
Because they did not meet the sons of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam to curse them, yet our God {Eloheinu, Covenant Protector} turned the curse into a blessing.
2. Dynamic Translation
They refused to welcome the people of Israel with food or water, and instead paid Balaam to curse them. But our God {Eloheinu, Guardian of Israel} turned that curse into a blessing.
