17. Formal Translation Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem is in ruins, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, so that we will no longer be a reproach.” |
17. Dynamic Translation Then I told them, “You can see the hard situation we are facing—Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been destroyed by fire. Let us go and rebuild Jerusalem’s wall, so we will not be disgraced any longer.” |
