15. Formal Translation But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people and took from them bread and wine, besides forty silver shekels. Their servants also exerted authority over the people. But I did not do so because of the fear of God {Elohim, Revered Judge}. |
15. Dynamic Translation The earlier governors, those preceding me, imposed heavy demands on the people and collected bread and wine from them, along with forty silver shekels. Their attendants also exercised authority over the people. But out of reverence for God {Elohim, the One to Be Feared}, I did not act in that way. |
