18. Formal Translation For many in Judah were bound by oath, for he was a son-in-law to Shekhaniah son of Arah, and Jehohanan his son had taken the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiyah. |
18. Dynamic Translation Many in Judah had pledged themselves to him, since he had married into the household of Shekhaniah son of Arah. His son Jehohanan had married Meshullam’s daughter, the daughter of Berechiyah. |
