Exegesis
The imperative saehu {שָׂאֵ֣הוּ | sā-ʾē-hû} “carry him” with becheikekha {בְחֵיקֶ֗ךָ | bə-ḥêy-qə-khā} “in your bosom” uses a close simile marked by ka’asher {כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר | ka-ʾă-šer} “as” with yissa ha’omen et hayonek {יִשָּׂ֤א הָאֹמֵן אֶת־הַיֹּנֵ֔ק | yiś-śāʾ hā-’ōmēn ʾēt ha-yō-nēq} “the nurse carries the suckling.”
In context — Numbers 11:12
Am I the one who has conceived all these people? Have I given birth to them, that You should say to me, Carry them in your bosom , as the nurse carries the infant to the land which You swore to their fathers?
