Exegesis

The Qal cohortatives tāmōt nap̄šî {תָּמֹת נַפְשִׁי | tāmōt nap̄šî} ‘let my soul die’ and ū-tᵊhî ʾaḥărîtî {וּתְהִי אַחֲרִיתִי | ū-tᵊhî ʾaḥărîtî} ‘and let my end be’ express the speaker’s earnest wish.
