Exegesis
Two causal clauses introduced by ki {כִּי | kî} explain motive: ki yignov le-malle nafsho {כִּי יִגְנ֑וֹב לְמַלֵּ֥א נַפְשׁ֗וֹ} ‘if he steals to satisfy his soul’, and ki yirav {כִּי יִרְעָֽב | kî yir-ʿāḇ} ‘because he is hungry’.
