Exegesis
A second parallel conditional ei tis {εἴ τις | eí tis} introduces en machairē apoktanthēnai {ἐν μαχαίρῃ ἀποκτανθῆναι | en ma-kha-í-rē a-po-ktan-thê-nai} ‘to be killed with the sword’, where the aorist passive infinitive conveys external agency.
In context — Revelation 13:10
If anyone is to go into captivity , into captivity he goes; if anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.
