Exegesis
The future passive blēthēsetai {βληθήσεται | blē-thē-se-tai} ‘will be thrown down’ and the aorist passive subjunctive heurethē {εὑρεθῇ | heu-re-thē} under the emphatic negation ou mē {οὐ μὴ | ou mē} depict Babylon as the passive object of judgment and stress the absolute certainty that it will never be found again. In translation, the passives are preserved to keep the focus on Babylon’s downfall rather than the agent, and the double negative is rendered with strong finality (“never be found again,” “never be seen anymore”) to reflect the irrevocable nature of the judgment.
