Exegesis

The verse opens with the coordinating conjunction kai {Καὶ | Kaí} linking this vision to the preceding narrative.

The relative clause hou apo tou prosopou ephugen hē gē kai ho ouranos {οὗ ἀπὸ τοῦ προσώπου ἔφυγεν ἡ γῆ καὶ ὁ οὐρανός | hoû apó toû pro-só-pou é-phu-gen hē gê kaí ho ou-ra-nós} ties the sudden flight of earth and heaven directly to the presence of the seated One, with apo governing the causal genitive.

The concluding clause kai topos ouch heurethē autois {καὶ τόπος οὐχ εὑρέθη αὐτοῖς | kaí tó-pos oukh heu-ré-thē au-toîs} uses a nominative subject with an aorist passive verb and negation to declare that “no place was found for them,” with autois marking the dative recipients.
