1 And I saw an angel {angelos: heavenly messenger} coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss {abyssos: deep prison realm} and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he seized the dragon, the serpent {ophis: deceiving tempter}, the ancient one, who is the Devil and Satan, and he bound {edesen: securely restrained} him for a thousand years.
3 And he threw him into the abyss and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations {ethnē: peoples beyond Israel} any longer, until the thousand years are fulfilled. After these things, he must be released for a short time {chronon: appointed period}.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls {psyche: conscious lives} of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus {Iesous, Revealed Savior} and because of the word of God {Theos, Source of Revelation}, and also those who had not worshiped the beast nor its image, and had not received the mark {charagma: loyalty sign} on their forehead and on their hand; and they lived and reigned with Christ {Christos, Reigning Messiah} a thousand years.
5 The rest of the dead did not live until the thousand years were completed {telesthe: reached completion}. This is the first resurrection {anastasis: rising from death}.
6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a share in the first resurrection. Over these, the second death has no authority; but they will be priests of God {Theos, Sovereign Ruler} and of Christ {Christos, Reigning Messiah}, and they will reign with Him for a thousand years {chilia ete: thousand-year reign}.
7 And when the thousand years are completed, Satan {Satanas: Adversary Accuser} will be released out of his prison {phylake: place of confinement}.
8 And he will go out to deceive the nations that are in the four corners {tessarsi goniais: entire earth} of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for war; their number is like the sand {ammos: uncountable multitude} of the sea.
9 And they went up over the breadth {platos: wide expanse} of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire {pyr: consuming judgment} came down from heaven and devoured them.
10 And the devil {diabolos: slandering enemy} who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where also the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever {aionas ton aionon: endless punishment}.
11 And I saw a great white throne {thronos: sovereign judgment seat} and Him {Theos, Righteous Judge} who was seated on it, from whose presence the earth and the heaven fled, and no place was found for them.
12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne {thronos: royal judgment seat}, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life {zoe: unending spiritual existence}; and the dead were judged out of the things written in the books, according to their deeds.
13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades {hades: realm of the dead} gave up the dead who were in them; and each one was judged according to their works {erga: actions performed}.
14 And death and Hades {hades: realm of dead} were thrown into the lake {limne: fiery judgment place} of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
15 And if anyone was not found written in the book {biblion: heavenly life register} of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire {pyr: consuming judgment}.
