Ruth 1:20:1וַתֹּ֣אמֶרvatomerand she said
Ruth 1:20:2אֲלֵיהֶ֔ןalehento them {feminine} Ruth 1:20:3אַל־תִּקְרֶ֥אנָהaltikreanado not call {you women} Ruth 1:20:4לִ֖יlito me Ruth 1:20:5נָעֳמִ֑יnaomiNaomi Ruth 1:20:6קְרֶ֤אןָkreanacall {you women} Ruth 1:20:7לִי֙lito me Ruth 1:20:8מָרָ֔אmaraMara Ruth 1:20:9כִּי־הֵמַ֥רkihemarfor he has made bitter Ruth 1:20:10שַׁדַּ֛יshadaithe Almighty Ruth 1:20:11לִ֖יlito me Ruth 1:20:12מְאֹֽד׃meodvery much
20. Formal Translation
She said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty {Shaddai, All-Powerful Ruler} has made me very bitter.”
20. Dynamic Translation
She told them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, because the Almighty {Shaddai, All-Sufficient One} has made me extremely bitter.”
