15. Formal Translation This is the exultant city dwelling in security, saying in her heart, “I am, and there is none besides me.” How she has become a desolation, a lair for the beast! Everyone passing by her will hiss and shake his hand. |
15. Dynamic Translation This was the city that dwelt in complacency and thought to herself, “I am the one, and there is no other.” Now she lies in ruins, a den for wild beasts! All who pass by will scoff and shake their fists. |
