Zephaniah 2:15:2הָעִ֤ירhairthe city Zephaniah 2:15:3הָעַלִּיזָה֙haalizathe exultant Zephaniah 2:15:4הַיּוֹשֶׁ֣בֶתhayoshevetthe one dwelling Zephaniah 2:15:5לָבֶ֔טַחlavetakhin security Zephaniah 2:15:6הָאֹֽמְרָה֙haomerathe one saying Zephaniah 2:15:7בִּלְבָבָ֔הּbilvevain her heart Zephaniah 2:15:8אֲנִ֖יaniI Zephaniah 2:15:9וְאַפְסִ֣יveafsiand none of me or and no one besides me Zephaniah 2:15:10ע֑וֹדodmore Zephaniah 2:15:11אֵ֣יךְekhhow Zephaniah 2:15:12הָיְתָ֣הhayetashe became or she was Zephaniah 2:15:13לְשַׁמָּ֗הleshamafor a desolation Zephaniah 2:15:14מַרְבֵּץ֙marbetsa resting place or a lair Zephaniah 2:15:15לַֽחַיָּ֔הlakhayafor the wild animal Zephaniah 2:15:16כֹּ֚לkolall Zephaniah 2:15:17עוֹבֵ֣רoverpassing Zephaniah 2:15:18עָלֶ֔יהָalehaover her or by her Zephaniah 2:15:19יִשְׁרֹ֖קyishrokhe will whistle or he hisses Zephaniah 2:15:20יָנִ֥יעַyaniahe will shake or he moves Zephaniah 2:15:21יָדֽוֹ׃סyadohis hand
15. Formal Translation
This is the exultant city dwelling in security, saying in her heart, “I am, and there is none besides me.” How she has become a desolation, a lair for the beast! Everyone passing by her will hiss and shake his hand.
15. Dynamic Translation
This was the city that dwelt in complacency and thought to herself, “I am the one, and there is no other.” Now she lies in ruins, a den for wild beasts! All who pass by will scoff and shake their fists.
