another’ creates parallel nominal clauses: he ton epouranion doxa {ἡ τῶν ἐπουρανίων δόξα | hē tōn e-pou-ra-ní-ōn dó-xa} ‘the glory of the heavenly ones’ and he ton epigeion (doxa) {ἡ τῶν ἐπιγείων (δόξα) | hē tōn e-pi-ge-í-ōn (dó-xa)} ‘the glory of the earthly ones,’ with the second doxa understood by ellipsis. The genitives ton epouranion and ton epigeion function as possessive genitives marking spheres of existence. English supplies the implied verb “is” and renders the correlative structure as “one … another” to preserve Paul’s balanced antithesis.
