4. Formal Translation And it happened, when the king heard the word of the man of God {Elohim, Divine Spokesman} that he had cried out against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from upon the altar, saying, “Seize him!” But his hand, which he stretched out against him, dried up so that he was not able to bring it back to himself. |
4. Dynamic Translation As soon as the king heard what the man of God {Elohim, Giver of Judgment} announced against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam reached out his hand from the altar and ordered, “Grab him!” Instantly, the hand he reached out toward the man shriveled up, so he could not pull it back. |
