| 4. Formal Translation But he went on alone a day’s journey into the wilderness, and he came and sat under a broom bush. There he asked that his life be taken, saying, “It is enough now, LORD {Yahweh, Compassionate Upholder}; take my life, for I am not better than my fathers.” |
| 4. Dynamic Translation He traveled one full day into the desert by himself and sat down under a broom bush. He pleaded to die: “I have had enough, LORD {Yahweh, Compassionate Hearer}; take my life, because I am no better than my ancestors.” |
