וַיְהִי֩{va-ye-HI###vah-yeh-HEE###and it happened} כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ{khish-mo-A###khihsh-moh-AH###when hearing} אַחְאָ֜ב{akh-AV###ahkh-AAV###Ahab} אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֤ים{et-ha-de-va-RIM###eht-hah-deh-vah-REEM###(direct object) the words} הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙{ha-E-le###haa-EE-leh###these} וַיִּקְרַ֣ע{va-yik-RA###vah-yik-RAH###and he tore} בְּגָדָ֔יו{be-ga-DAV###beh-gah-DAAV###his garments} וַיָּֽשֶׂם־שַׂ֥ק{va-ya-SEM-sak###vah-yah-SEHM-sahk###and he put sackcloth} עַל־בְּשָׂר֖וֹ{al-be-sa-RO###ahl-beh-sah-ROH###upon his flesh} וַיָּצ֑וֹם{va-ya-TSOM###vah-yah-TSOHM###and he fasted} וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב{va-yish-KAV###vah-yihsh-KAAV###and he lay} בַּשָּׂ֔ק{bas-SAK###bahs-SAAK###in the sackcloth} וַיְהַלֵּ֖ךְ{va-ye-hal-LEKH###vah-yeh-hahl-LEEKH###and he walked about} אַֽט׃ס{AT###AHT###slowly or softly}
