1 Kings 8:35:1בְּהֵעָצֵ֥רbeheatserwhen being restrained
1 Kings 8:35:2שָׁמַ֛יִםshamayimheavens 1 Kings 8:35:3וְלֹא־יִהְיֶ֥הveloyiheyeand not will there be 1 Kings 8:35:4מָטָ֖רmatarrain 1 Kings 8:35:5כִּ֣יkibecause 1 Kings 8:35:6יֶחֶטְאוּ־לָ֑ךְyekheteulakhthey sin against you 1 Kings 8:35:7וְהִֽתְפַּֽלְל֞וּvehitpalleluand they pray 1 Kings 8:35:8אֶל־הַמָּק֤וֹםelhamakomtoward the place 1 Kings 8:35:9הַזֶּה֙hazethis 1 Kings 8:35:10וְהוֹד֣וּvehoduand they acknowledge 1 Kings 8:35:11אֶת־שְׁמֶ֔ךָetshemekha{the} name of you 1 Kings 8:35:12וּמֵחַטָּאתָ֥םumekhatataamand from their sin 1 Kings 8:35:13יְשׁוּב֖וּןyeshuvunthey turn back 1 Kings 8:35:14כִּ֥יkiwhen or because 1 Kings 8:35:15תַעֲנֵֽם׃taanemyou afflict them
35. Formal Translation
When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you {Yahweh, Disciplinary Judge}, and they pray toward this place and confess your name, and turn back from their sin because you afflict them.
35. Dynamic Translation
If the skies are closed and no rain falls because they have sinned against you {Yahweh, Compassionate Teacher}, and they pray toward this place and acknowledge your name, and turn away from their wrongdoing because you have humbled them.
