35. Formal Translation When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you {Yahweh, Disciplinary Judge}, and they pray toward this place and confess your name, and turn back from their sin because you afflict them. |
35. Dynamic Translation If the skies are closed and no rain falls because they have sinned against you {Yahweh, Compassionate Teacher}, and they pray toward this place and acknowledge your name, and turn away from their wrongdoing because you have humbled them. |
