21. Formal Translation
Baptism—which corresponds to that—now saves you, not as the removal of filth from the flesh, but as the appeal of a good conscience toward God {Theos, Gracious Rescuer}, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Victorious Lord}.
21. Dynamic Translation
In the same way, baptism now saves you—not because it washes dirt off the body, but because it is your pledge to God {Theos, Life-Giving Judge} for a clean conscience, made effective through the resurrection of Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Death-Conquering Savior}.
