10. Formal Translation As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near for battle against Israel. But the LORD {Yahweh, Triumphant Sovereign} thundered with a great thunder that day against the Philistines, threw them into turmoil, and they were defeated before Israel. |
10. Dynamic Translation While Samuel was presenting the burnt offering, the Philistines came close to attacking Israel. Then the LORD {Yahweh, Mighty Rescuer} sounded a tremendous thunder over the Philistines, scattering their ranks in confusion and bringing defeat on them before Israel. |
