16. Formal Translation And when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion do we have in David? Nor do we have any inheritance in Jesse’s son. Each to your tents, Israel! Now look to your own house, David.” So all Israel went to their tents. |
16. Dynamic Translation When all Israel realized that the king would not listen to them, the people said to him, “What share do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Everyone to your tents, Israel! Now, David, take care of your household.” So all the Israelites went home. |
