Exegesis

Vayishlach {וַיִּשְׁלַח | wayyišlaḥ} ‘he sent’ introduces the deployment of forces, with et-sarei ha-chayalim asher-lo {אֶת־שָׂרֵ֨י הַחֲיָלִ֤ים אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ֙ | ʾet-śārê haḥăyālim ʾăšer-lô} forming a relative construct for “the commanders of the armies who belonged to him.”
