The temporal clause ū-kə-kallôtām {וּכְכַלּוֹתָם | ū-kə-kallôtām} ‘when they finished’ introduces the ironic perfect verb ʿāzarû {עָזְרוּ | ʿāzarû} ‘they helped’, as allies turn on themselves.
