Vayanatslu lahem {וַיְנַצְּל֥וּ לָהֶם | wayyanat•səlū lā•hēm} “and they seized for themselves” indicates appropriation, while le’ein-masa {לְאֵ֣ין־מַשָּׂא | lᵊ•ʾên•mas•śāʾ} “unable to carry” conveys the excess.
