11. Formal Translation
And it happened at the time when the chest was brought to the oversight of the king by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that the silver was abundant, the king’s scribe and the overseer of the chief priest would come and empty the chest and then carry it and return it to its place. Thus they did day after day, and they collected silver in great abundance.
11. Dynamic Translation
Whenever the Levites brought the chest to the officials overseeing the king’s affairs and saw there was a large amount of money, the royal secretary and the chief priest’s officer would come, empty the chest, take it away, and return it to its place. They did this every day, gathering a substantial sum.
