Exegesis

The verse follows the narrative vav-consecutive sequence: vayyizqan {וַיִּזְקַ֧ן | wayyizqân} ‘and he became old’, vayyisbaʿ {וַיִּשְׂבַּ֥ע | wayyisbaʿ} ‘and he was satisfied’ and vayyāmôṯ {וַיָּמֹ֑ת | wayyāmôṯ} ‘and he died’, where the vav {וָו | wāw} prefixed to a Qal imperfect indicates past narrative.
