Exegesis

The verse begins with the temporal phrase ume’et {וּמֵעֵת | û-mē-ʾēt} “and from the time,” followed by the relative-aspect cluster asher-sar {אֲשֶׁר־סָר | ʾă-šer sār} “that he turned aside,” which together with me’acharei YHWH {מֵאַחֲרֵי יְהוָה | mē-ʾă-ḥărê Yə-hō-wāh} “from after the LORD” sets the narrative pivot.
