| 9. Formal Translation But a prophet to the LORD {Yahweh, Divine Messenger} was there, named Oded; he went out before the army coming to Samaria and said to them, “Look—because the LORD, the God of your fathers was angry with Judah, he gave them into your hand; yet you killed them in a rage that has risen to heaven.” |
| 9. Dynamic Translation A prophet of the LORD {Yahweh, Divine Voice} named Oded went out to meet the army returning to Samaria. He said, “Hear this: the LORD, the God of your ancestors was furious with Judah and handed them over to you, but you slaughtered them with a fury so great it has reached heaven.” |
