וַיִּתֵּ֛ן{va-yit-TEN###vah-yit-TEEN###and he appointed or set} שָׂרֵ֥י{sa-RE###sah-REE###commanders of} מִלְחָמ֖וֹת{mil-kha-MOT###mih-lkhaa-MOHT###wars or battles} עַל־הָעָ֑ם{al-ha-AM###ahl-haa-AAM###over the people} וַיִּקְבְּצֵ֣ם{va-yik-bet-TSAM###vah-yik-beht-TSEEM###and he gathered them} אֵלָ֗יו{e-LAV###ee-LAAV###to him} אֶל־רְחוֹב֙{el-re-KHOV###ehl-reh-KHOHV###to the broad place or square of} שַׁ֣עַר{SHA-ar###SHAH-ahr###the gate of} הָעִ֔יר{ha-IR###haa-EER###the city} וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר{va-ye-dab-BER###vah-yeh-dahb-BEER###and he spoke} עַל־לְבָבָ֖ם{al-le-va-VAM###ahl-leh-vah-VAAM###to their heart or encouragingly to them} לֵאמֹֽר׃{le-MOR###lee-MOHR###saying}
