The clause “our fathers did not guard the word of the LORD by doing everything written in this book” uses lo-shamru {לֹא־שָׁמְרוּ | lō-šāmarū} ‘did not keep’ with the infinitive la’asot k’khol ha-katuv {לַעֲשׂוֹת כְּכָל־הַכָּתוּב | laʿă·śôt kᵊ·ḵāl-ha-ḵā·tûḇ} ‘to do according to all that is written’. This syntactic chain underscores covenantal duty and grounds divine judgment in written obligation.
