9. Formal Translation But we ourselves bore the sentence of death within us, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God {Theos, Faithful Deliverer} who raises the dead. |
9. Dynamic Translation Instead, we came to feel that we had already received a death sentence; this served to stop us from relying on ourselves and to turn us to God {Theos, Powerful Life-Giver}, who brings the dead back to life. |
