10. Formal Translation For this reason, I am writing these matters in my absence, so that when I am present I may refrain from severe action, according to the authority which the Lord {Kyrios, Giver of Authority} has entrusted to me for edification rather than destruction. |
10. Dynamic Translation That is why, while I am away, I am writing this message, so that when I arrive I will not have to be harsh in exercising the authority the Lord {Kyrios, Guiding Overseer} has given me—authority meant to build you up rather than tear you down. |
